PARALLELS

Parallels is an immersive installation that merges architectural light and sound, drawing inspiration from the dynamic movements and tones found in nature. Using thousands of laser beams, the installation creates vivid light environments that surround and engage spectators in a constantly shifting visual narrative. The system works by converting moving film into fragmented laser beams, which reflect off thousands of precise mirrors placed at degree accuracy. This transforms the original moving footage into floating volumes of light, abstracting and intensifying the qualities of the imagery. 

The content is created from video samples of powerful, evocative phenomena, such as a ruptured mantle, blossoming flora, and the iridescent movement of heavenly bodies. These visuals are stretched into animated atmospheres that embody serenity, while also mirroring the unpredictability of our environment. The artwork translates the figurative into the atmospheric, seeking infinition over definition, channelling the effects of the natural world into urban settings to offer viewers a transcendent experience through light-based technology.
